In 1973, father and son, Tuffy and Kenny Nelson made history.
With a dream of selling delicious snacks at their local corner store, the duo opened Barrel O’ Fun in their hometown of Perham, Minnesota. With a commitment to family, fun and quality, they began producing their favorite snack foods: potato chips, cheese curls and popcorn. Quickly becoming a local favorite, Barrel O’ Fun’s reputation for great-tasting snacks solidified, and by 1982, the company had grown from 10 employees to more than 75.
Through the years, Barrel O’ Fun continued to add new flavors and innovations to its snacks. In 2005, the company outgrew its original facility, and opened a brand new 100,000 square foot plant in Perham. Over time, the company added three more additions to that plant to keep up with growing production demands.
Today, with more than 750 employees at the Perham location and three production facilities nationwide, Barrel O’ Fun is a household name. Never losing sight of its local roots, the company continues to support the Perham community.
The company joined the Shearer’s Snacks product family in 2015. Located in Massillon, Ohio, Shearer’s carries on the Barrel O’ Fun tradition of community involvement, customer service and quality snacks.
